BG16 - Cinnabar. Las Cuevas mine, Almadén, Ciudad Real, Spain
A classic mineral specimen from "Las Cuevas", Almaden. It is composed by crystals of blood-red Cinnabar with rhombohedral faces and small drops of native Mercury. Aesthetic piece coming from one of the ancient mercury mines at the Almaden Mining District that have been in production since the Roman age, 2000 years ago, and were closed many years ago.
